Sarah Berens, LMSW, is Associate Clinical Director at KVC Hospitals Hays
Sarah Berens oversees clinical services, manages clinicians and case managers, and collaborates with members of KVC Hospitals Hays’ multi-disciplinary treatment team to meet client needs. Prior to KVC, Sarah worked in child welfare helping children and families in the foster care system reunify as well as providing family preservation services. She also worked for a local nonprofit providing mentorship services where she completed assessments of mentors and children entering the program and helped with fundraising and outreach. She has completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Systems Therapy, and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Sarah earned her master’s degree in social work at the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare.
Christina (Chrissy) Reynolds, LCSW, LSCSW, is Associate Director of Clinical Services at KVC Niles
Chrissy Reynolds provides direct support and supervision for treatment teams to ensure clinical compliance standards are met and that youth and their families are supported in a therapeutic environment of compassionate care. She works closely with the KVC Niles leadership team to uphold and develop clinical best practices and strategic initiatives. Prior to working with KVC Niles, Chrissy was a Permanency Supervisor at KVC Kansas and a Therapist at KVC Hospitals Kansas City. She brings more than 12 years of experience in the mental health and child welfare fields, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings serving children and adults. Chrissy also worked in partnership with a local health clinic to establish a free healthcare program for veterans and people experiencing homelessness.

OVERVIEW: This webinar will review common mood disorder diagnoses in adolescents participating in treatment in a psychiatric residential treatment setting. Participants will be provided an overview of clinical best practices, trauma-informed systems of care, and environmental considerations when providing quality care to adolescents. This webinar will also review special considerations for the impact of trauma on the presentation of symptoms and experience of clinical interventions.
OBJECTIVES: As a result of attending this webinar, the participant will be able to:
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the live zoom webinar. You will receive a zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
