Gayle M. Taylor-Ford, LSCSW, LCAC, CCTP is the executive director and owner of Therapy Services LLC with offices in Burlington, KS and Emporia, KS. Her agency provides outpatient substance abuse treatment, medication assisted treatment, and non-emergency medical transportation, as well as HCBS BI Waiver services for behavior therapy and cognitive therapy. She is a member of the board of directors and secretary for International Pain Foundation. She is on the Kansas Government Relations Advisory Committee for the National MS Society. She is a board member and past president of the board for Empower House Ministries. She has been providing services for the Brain Injury waiver since 2003.
OVERVIEW: After a moderate to severe brain injury, survivors often look “normal”, but they and those closest to them (spouse, family, co-workers) realize “something isn’t right.” The person may have been a high-functioning manager before, but now lacks initiation, is disorganized and unable to concentrate, and may act impulsively or inappropriately-especially when frustrated. Is it depression? Anxiety? Cognitive dysfunction due to forgotten brain injury? Or any/all of the above?
OBJECTIVES: After attending this Zoom webinar, the participant will be able to:
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This continuing education webinar is designed for mental health professionals, therapists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, nurses, and health care professionals. The community is also invited to attend.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this Zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the Zoom webinar. You will receive a Zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live Zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The Zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
