Zoom Webinar
Registration Fee: $45
Jim LeCluyse is a licensed clinical social worker in both Kansas and Missouri since 1998, and SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner) since 2022. In his private practice, Jim uses somatic therapy (SE) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to assist clients in renegotiating trauma that manifests as chronic anxiety, depression, and anger. He is happily married and has two lovely teenage daughters.
OVERVIEW: How happy are you? This is a very important question! Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) theorizes that human happiness is actually a signpost for how “psychologically flexible” a person is. This flexibility is fostered by three critical life skills: the ability to: 1) be present, 2) open up, and 3) do what matters most to you. ACT observes that much of human unhappiness, or suffering, results from our failed attempts to eliminate or avoid painful thoughts and emotions. In this introductory webinar on ACT, we will explore the four human “bad habits” that contribute to psychological inflexibility. Second, we will focus on the six core ACT processes that facilitate psychological wellness. Along the way, we will explore several practical exercises for each of the core processes. This webinar offers an effective and accessible approach to help build a richer, fuller, and more meaningful life- an approach, by the way, that is backed up by more than 1000 ACT RCTs (randomized controlled trials).
