Karen Bullock, PhD, LCSW, FGSA, APHSW-C, Ahearn Endowed Professor in the Boston College School of Social Work. Her practice interests include health disparities and health equity in serious illness care; aging and gerontology; and hospice, palliative and end-of-life care decision making.
Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, MDiv, Senior Vice President, Grief Programs at Hospice Foundation of America (HFA). He has been a panelist on HFA’s Living with Grief program for 28 years.
Timothy W. Kirk, PhD, HEC-C, Department Chairperson and Professor of Philosophy at the City University of New York, York College, specializing in healthcare ethics with an emphasis on hospice and palliative care.
Wendy Walters, LICSW, HEC-C, has been in direct clinical practice for over 30 years, with the bulk of that experience in end-of-life care. She spent the first 17 years of her career in hospice work.
OVERVIEW: This online streaming webinar will use a case study approach to review and explore well-established ethical principles of end-of life care in the presence of emerging legal, social, and technological change. A panel of experts will act as an ethics committee, discussing the ethical principles illustrated by six case studies and providing recommendations for resolution. Cases studies will include topics such as futile treatment, communication, opioid usage, concurrent care, voluntarily stopping eating and drinking, medical aid in dying and more.
OBJECTIVES: After attending this online streaming webinar, the participant will be able to:
CONTINUING EDUCATION: 2.0 CEU’s FREE but must be obtained from an online process. This involves going online to complete a brief exam, input a code given at the end of the event, and printing the CE certificate.
