Tyler Staples is an Associate Professor for the Center for Population Health & Equity and Licensed Psychologist in Kansas (temporary) and Missouri. His arrival at KCU marked a return to his alma mater, graduating from KCU’s Clinical Psychology doctoral program in June 2023. He also holds a master’s in counseling psychology from Avila University and bachelor’s in psychology from The University of Kansas. Dr. Staples’ training included specialization in child and adolescent psychology, particularly in neurodevelopmental assessment, completing a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at The University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Staples’ position at KCU includes providing and supervising neurodevelopmental assessment for KCU students for purposes of academic accommodation. His position also involves embedment with Care Beyond the Boulevard, a nonprofit providing no-cost healthcare services to those experiencing poverty and/or homelessness. Dr. Staples also holds private practice in Olathe, Kansas where he provides assessment and therapy services for children and adolescents.
OVERVIEW: In this presentation, Dr. Staples will review the common methods for diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in children and adolescents. Differential diagnosis will also be covered. Dr. Staples will then discuss empirically supported treatment techniques for the executive dysfunction commonly seen in ADHD.

This continuing education Zoom webinar is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and health care workers. The community is also invited to attend.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this Zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the Zoom webinar. You will receive a Zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live Zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The Zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
