Lara Ashbaugh, LPC, has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, is a licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She has worked in the field of community mental health for over 15 years. In that time she has worked in a crisis stabilization unit, residential facilities, outpatient case management and most recently an outpatient counseling center. She currently works for Truman Medical Behavioral Health as a Senior Projects Coordinator. In this capacity she clinically supervises therapists, runs orientation, and helps manage and train the clinical workforce. She is passionate about finding and utilizing a person’s strengths to help them build the life they want. Outside of mental health she teaches Lifespan Development Psychology and Abnormal Psychology at various community colleges and universities. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, seeing movies, and traveling the world.
OVERVIEW:
The modern workplace is adapting to meet the demands of an ever changing society and workforce. Creating a culture that builds and supports compassion towards one another is the right thing to do and is just good business.
Fostering compassion in the workplace is a win-win for both the employee and the employer. Responding compassionately to workers not only improves their performance and loyalty, but also creates an atmosphere that is safe for learning, collaboration, and innovation, which are key drivers of success in today’s business atmosphere.
The people in the workforce are a business’ greatest asset; they need and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
This presentation will provide a base understanding of compassion, how it is beneficial to people and the business, and give a framework to begin shaping organizational culture.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This continuing education zoom webinar is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and health care workers. The community is also invited to attend.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the live zoom webinar. You will receive a zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
