Jessica Doane, LSCSW, LCSW (she/her) is an accomplished Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Social Worker in both Kansas and Missouri with extensive experience across diverse therapeutic settings. Currently, she serves as the Director of Community Engagement and a clinician at Resolve Counseling and Wellness in Kansas City, where she excels in business development, staff training, and community outreach. Jessica also leads a team of five clinicians, focusing on fostering impactful community partnerships and advancing mental health care.
With a career spanning roles in residential treatment, juvenile corrections, outpatient mental health, schools, and psychiatric hospitals, Jessica is known for her innovative therapeutic approaches and strong clinical skills. Her expertise includes working with the LGBTQ+ community, polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, and issues such as anxiety, depression, perfectionism, body neutrality and ADHD in adult women.
Jessica is passionate about creating safe, empowering spaces for healing and advocates for underrepresented populations. Her commitment extends to her role as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas, where she teaches courses on trauma care, gender and sexuality diversity, and social work with women and femmes.
Jessica holds a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kansas and is actively involved in the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurions Leadership Program-Pinnacle Class of 2026. Her mission is to enhance community well-being and elevate mental health services across the region.
OVERVIEW:
This trauma‑informed, equity‑centered webinar is designed for clinicians who are supporting clients through an era of intense sociopolitical tension. This training explores how political events, systemic oppression, and collective trauma shape mental health, and how these pressures uniquely impact marginalized communities. Participants will examine their dual identities as helpers and humans, reflect on the ethical responsibilities of practice in politically charged contexts, and learn strategies to maintain grounded, affirming, and empowered therapeutic spaces without defaulting to neutrality or avoidance. This webinar fulfills ethics requirement for continuing education.

This continuing education Zoom webinar is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and health care workers. The community is also invited to attend.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 1.5 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the live zoom webinar. You will receive a zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
