Daniel Castellanos, MD is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has spent his career dedicated to the teaching and training of students, residents and fellows in Psychiatry. Dr Castellanos is a mental health advocate for youth, encouraging appropriate care for children and adolescents. He has given over 85 national, regional and local presentations and published an online training module and two books on the appropriate use of psychotropic medications. He was the recipient of the 2020 American Psychiatric Association Simon Bolivar Award and the 2021 Florida Psychiatric Society’s Practitioner of the Year award.
Dr Castellanos has extensive leadership and administrative experience. He is Professor of Psychiatry & Pediatrics, Founding Chair of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, Associate Program Director of the Citrus Health Network-FIU Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program and Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine in Miami, Florida.
OVERVIEW: This zoom webinar will provide a review of interventions for mental disorders throughout history. We will review the development of evidence based mental health practices and identify innovative and emerging treatments.
OBJECTIVES: After attending this Zoom webinar, the participant will be able to:
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: This continuing education zoom webinar is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and health care workers. The community is also invited to attend.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the live zoom webinar. You will receive a zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time
