Drs. Taryn Acosta Lentz and Kim Vandegeest-Wallace are Clinical Assistant Professors in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Drs. Acosta Lentz and Vandegeest-Wallce are deeply committed to helping patients heal and thrive as they cope with reproductive challenges, such as infertility, high-risk pregnancy, postpartum anxiety/depression, pregnancy loss, sexual concerns, and menopause. Drs. Acosta Lentz and Vandegeest-Wallace are passionate about providing mental health services to trangender patients and offer a safe therapeutic environment where they feel affirmed, respected, and appreciated for their courage and resolve.
OVERVIEW: Participants will immerse themselves in an empathetic exercise to better understand unique struggles associated with gender dysphoria throughout the lifespan. Drs. Acosta Lentz and Vandegeest-Wallace will provide an affirmative framework model for gender confirmation surgical clearance letter writing. Audience members will have the privilege of hearing the life experiences of multiple transgender individuals via a panel discussion.
OBJECTIVES: As a result of attending this workshop, the participant will be able to:
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors. For licensed professionals, please bring license # to the workshop to receive your CEU Certificate of Attendance.
