Zoom Webinar
Registration Fee: $45
Jim LeCluyse (he/him) is a licensed clinical social worker in both Kansas and Missouri since 2000, and SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner) since 2022. In his private practice, Jim uses somatic therapy (SE) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) to assist clients in renegotiating trauma that manifests as chronic anxiety, depression, and anger. He is happily married and has two lovely teenage daughters.
OVERVIEW: Most approaches to psychological wellness focus on thoughts. Somatic therapies focus on the deeper, biological level – the level of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). In fact, the state of the ANS is perhaps the most important determinant of our mental and physical wellbeing. It influences not only what we think and how we feel, but also what choices we make.
In this introductory webinar we will explore the basic principles of safe and effective somatic (ANS) therapy. We will also dive into the Polyvagal Theory of Stephen Porges, which underpins our understanding of the ANS, and therefore guides successful somatic work.
