Riena (pronounced Ree-nah) Kain, LISW-CP, LSCSW, ADHD-CCSP is a Licensed independent level social work in both SC and KS. She also holds an ADHD- Certified Clinical Services Provider credential. She has been working in the social work field for over 12 years starting in child welfare before transitioning to school-based therapy and then private practice in 2019. She currently runs her own private practice out of Derby, KS specializing in work with adolescents and young adults. She is passionate about working with those living with ADHD and utilizes many modalities to help her clients including CBT, DBT and MI. Riena got her start with MI in 2015 and now offers such trainings a few times a year both in KS and SC. Riena has provided various trainings over her career and enjoys supervising fellow social workers working toward their clinical license. In her free time, you can find her with her family, reading a book or outside with her dogs.

OVERVIEW: Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling style that easily joins with other evidence-based modalities to guide individuals struggling with ambivalence toward making progress to change. Riena utilizes the third and fourth editions of Motivational Interviewing by William R Miller and Stephen Rollnick as her guide as well as professional examples from years in practice.

OBJECTIVES: After attending this Zoom webinar, the participant will be able to:

Provide a foundation understanding of the history of MI and its spirit,
Describe multiple intervention skills to utilize MI’s OARS (Open-ended questions, Affirmations, Reflections and Summaries) with clients,
Recognize the TTM (Transtheoretical Model) Stages of Change and options for guiding clients through ambivalence by developing discrepancies.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This continuing education Zoom webinar is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and health care workers. The community is also invited to attend.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.

In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this Zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the Zoom webinar. You will receive a Zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live Zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The Zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
