Elva Medina is a bilingual English- and Spanish-speaking mental health therapist, speaker, and founder of ViVe Therapy Wellness & Consulting by Elva. A first-generation Latina, she brings experience in school counseling, nonprofit mental health care, and private practice to her work supporting children, teens, adults, and professionals. She holds master's degrees in Rehabilitation Counseling and School Counseling from Emporia State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Kansas. Her work focuses on trauma, anxiety,
grief, burnout, and helping individuals strengthen self-trust.

Elva is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrates approaches including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and somatic strategies. Through therapy, workshops, and wellness experiences, she helps participants recognize stress responses, practice grounding skills, and build realistic routines that support well-being. Her teaching style is warm, practical, and experiential, inviting mental health professionals to make room for their own care while continuing to care for others.

OBJECTIVES: After attending this Zoom webinar, the participant will be able to:

Differentiate burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatic stress, including their potential effects on mental health professionals well-being and professional functioning,
Demonstrate at least two grounding and self-regulation strategies to manage stress responses associated with repeated exposure to clients traumatic experiences,
Develop an individualized professional self-care plan incorporating restorative routines, boundaries, and workplace supports to address occupational stress and sustain effective practice.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This continuing education webinar is designed for mental health professionals, therapists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, nurses, and health care professionals. The community is also invited to attend.

CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 1.5 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.

In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this Zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the Zoom webinar. You will receive a Zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live Zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The Zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
