Steven C. Stoner, Pharm.D, BCPP is currently a Clinical Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration at the UMKC School of Pharmacy in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Stoner received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy in 1994 and completed a post-doctoral residency and fellowship in psychiatric pharmacy with UMKC / Western Missouri Mental Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri from 1994 through 1996. He also received the NIH-NIMH NCDEU Young Investigator Award in 1996 and the CPNP-Astra Zeneca Clinical Practice Award in 2001. While at the UMKC School of Pharmacy, Dr. Stoner has received multiple Teacher of the Year and Preceptor of the Year awards and received the 2015 MSHP Pharmacist of the Year recognition. Dr. Stoner is a member of ASHP, AACP, & the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) where he is a Past President.
OVERVIEW: During this workshop the mental health disease states of depression and bipolar disorder will be reviewed. In addition, common treatment approaches will be discussed, including medications, proper dosing, and management of side effects.
OBJECTIVES: As a result of attending this workshop, the participant will be able to:
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors. For licensed professionals, please bring license # to the workshop to receive your CEU Certificate of Attendance.
