Dr. Tiffany Willis is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Christian University and her Doctorate of Psychology from the University of Denver. Dr. Willis' clinical interests include attachment and bonding, trauma, infant mental health, perinatal mental health, and minority/underserved populations. Dr. Willis' research interests include the impact of psychosocial support for parents on the well-being of their baby and the power of attachment on the developing brain.
Dr. Willis is on the board of directors and a founding member of the Missouri Association for Infant Mental Health and Early Childhood (MOAIMH-EC), and on the executive committee of the National Network of NICU Psychologists (NNNP). Dr. Willis also enjoys community service and volunteers with Missouri's Black Health Care Coalition and is on the DEI board and a big sister with Big Brother Big Sister of Greater KC program.
OVERVIEW: Maternal and paternal depression and anxiety are often taboo in our society. As a result, new parents often do not disclose feelings of depression and/or anxiety and providers often do not inquire. The impact of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders can be quite debilitating and even lead to death if left untreated. Dr. Willis will discuss how providers can implement routine screening in order to increase treatment and ensure parents are emotionally supported and mentally healthy, which will enable them to provide an emotionally and developmentally stimulating environment for their growing infant.
