Dennis Owens, M.D., Ph.D., is an associate professor in the department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He also directs the department’s clinical trials division and oversees the Comprehensive Depression Assessment and Treatment Center at The University of Kansas Health System. Dr. Owens joined the faculty in November 2018 after several years in private practice.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from William Jewell College, Dr. Owens graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine then earned a doctorate in molecular biology from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he also completed his residency in psychiatry.
In addition to serving as principal investigator or sub-investigator on four active clinical trials, Dr. Owens engages with psychiatry residents through didactic lectures and supervision in the residents clinic. Dr. Owens is a licensed psychiatrist in Kansas and Missouri.
OBJECTIVES: As a result of attending this webinar, the participant will be able to:
• Discuss the diagnostic principles of treatment resistant depression,
• Describe the state-of-the-art treatment options,
• Recognize the importance of uniform application of outcome measures.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 1.5 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the live zoom webinar. You will receive a zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
