Dr. Gimel Rogers, Psy.D., ABPP is a licensed psychologist and is Board Certified in Clinical Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology. She is the owner of F.I.R.E. Igniting Lives, LLC. The firm provides evaluations and expert testimony in criminal, civil (family and personal injury), and court-martial cases involving a broad range of forensic issues.
With over 15 years of clinical, professional speaking, and training experience, consultant Dr. Rogers provides a space of engaging and experiential learning by using effective teaching techniques to meet the students' needs. She uses these same techniques to provide psychological expertise on a variety of topics to law enforcement, district and defense attorneys, judges, churches, community organizations, professional and social groups, and media outlets.
OVERVIEW:
This three hour training will center on racial trauma and stress in the context of institutionalized racism. A review of cultural sensitivity, disparate impact, and implicit bias
will lay the foundation for a discussion on traumatic stress related to the experience of racism in clinical practice. The primary focus of this training will be on understanding and identifying the effects of racism on therapeutic outcomes and developing practical skills for measuring and
reducing these effects in a clinical setting. A combination of lecture-style, breakout rooms, and case vignettes will be used. Due to the nature of the topic, this training will not be recorded.

This continuing education Zoom webinar is designed for case managers, social workers, psychologists, therapists, counselors, and health care workers. The community is welcome to attend.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Mental Health America of the Heartland is a pre-approved provider for social workers through the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Provider Number 17-007. This continuing education provider is approved 3.0 hours for social workers and accepted for psychologists, professional counselors, masters prepared psychologists, marriage and family therapists and addiction counselors.
In order to receive continuing education credit and a certificate of attendance for this Zoom webinar, you will be required to participate in the Zoom webinar. You will receive a Zoom invitation via email within a week of webinar. Also you will need to take an online exam and complete an evaluation that will be sent in a separate email after the live Zoom webinar. You must pass the test by 70%. The Zoom webinar will not be available by recording and viewing at any other time.
